Loro Piceno

This is a village of particular charm standing on a rise along the valley of the river Fiastra. The Church of S. Francis is Baroque inside and there is a painting by Federico Zuccari. The cloister is of the XIV century. Nearby there is the powerful XIII century Castle of Brunforte. Made of fired brick it is formed by low walls and four towers with a square base. Restored in the XVII and XVIII centuries it is now a convent for Dominican nuns. The church of S. Maria in Piazza, with its façade and gothic fired brick portal with flowery motives is of great interest. Inside there are the remains of frescoes of the XIV and XV centuries. The portal of Ponte Frumentario (XV century) and the Palazzo Municipale (XVIII century) are very interesting.
