The
origin of Serravalle di Chienti refers to the ancient town of Plestia,
mentioned by the historian Tito Livio when he talked about the Second
Punic War. Originally there were two different communities in this
territory: one in Percanestro and Elci, the other in Rocchetta di
Grancignano. The town was founded by the unification of three different
nuclei: Serravalle, Tufo and Serramula.
