| Potenza
Picena has a very old history and the first document of its existence
dates back to the 947 A.D.- The town centre dates back to the early Middle
Ages. During the Renaissance in Potenza Picena took place some meetings of
the Carbonari, and its citizens took part in the marchigiano-romagnoli
risings in 1817. Porto Potenza, instead, developed more recently, thanks
to the construction of the railway.
