cheerful township of Pollenza situated on a hilltop that separates the
valleys from the Potenza and Chienti rivers was founded in mediaeval times
with the name of Montemilone in the place where, in Roman times,
the ancient Pollentia arose (hence the name adopted by the township
in 1862).
