Grottammare is washed by the Adriatic Sea on the East side and it is protected by the gentle hills on the West side. Grottammare is both an enchanting medieval village and a lively sea resort embellished by liberty villas and palm trees along the seafront. The ancient part of the village is perched on a hill 126m above sea level.

Piazza Peretti is characterized by the church of San Giovanni Battista and by Teatro dell’Arancio (end of XVIII century), whose name is given by the name of the tree in the middle of the square. When there, take the alley next to the Osteria dell’Arancio and walk into Via Camilla Peretti.

You will see an ancient palace where the enchanting B&B is set. La Torretta sul Borgo is characterized by a cosy atmosphere and a good quality-price ratio.

Sole, Coccinella, Stella, Luna e Farfalla are the names of the four bedrooms and of the comfortable private apartment. Some of the rooms have a maritime view, the other s characteristic views of the medieval village.

B&B
La Torretta sul Borgo

Grottammare Alta

The palace where B&B  La Torretta sul Borgo is set is very ancient. It was an oil mill in the Seventeenth century and now it is partly occupied by the Borgo Antico Restaurant.

The owner, Stefano Marconi, has carried out a careful restoring.

He has paid particular attention to the genuine architectonical features (arches, a vista stones, original cotto floors, ceilings with wood beams and vaults).

At the entrance you will be welcomed in the tavernetta with cross vaults.

There a delicious breakfast will be served. Home made cakes, cheese, cured meat and much more will delight the dawn of your days.

You will see a beautiful fire place framed by a portal dating back to the sixteenth century.

It was anciently an opening leading to other rooms.

The bedrooms are located on different floors linked by a beautiful travertino staricase.

All the accommodations are named after Thun ceramics:

Luna
,
Stella, Sole, Coccinella, Farfalla

All the four bedrooms and the apartment are provided with en-suit bathroom with shower, Tv sat, Internet point, telephone, safe, ecological cooled floors, radio and daily cleaning service.

Sole is characterized by a marvellous panorama on the sea and on the Grottammare roofs; Luna e Stella, look on the village and are quite big and even a third bed or a buck bed could be added.

Coccinella is a beautiful suite with sea views. Its doors are beautifully framed by flower decoration around the light pink doors. You will find the same decoration in the apartment: Farfalla:  it is composed of two large bedrooms and kitchenette.

The furniture has been carefully chosen. The wardrobes’ shutters are all hand decorated with flowers in light colours.

The beds in wrought-iron are all different as they have been especially made by an art craftsman and so is the furniture in the bathrooms and the wrought-iron benches.

“The six weeks spent in Grottammare will always be one of my best and sweetest memories of my life”.

Franz Listz
