Hermitage restoration
An international association the “Vivo Foundation” that carries out
researches on psycho-traumas, bought the Eremo delle Grotte in 2001-2002.
A complete restoration project was presented to the Minister of the
Italian Heritage (Ministero per i Beni e Attività Culturali) as the place
is bound according to law n. 1089 year 1939 using European Community
founds.
The Ministry approved the project but imposed strict regulations so that
restoration wouldn’t have harmed the traditional characteristics of the
place and also the woods around. Vandalism and negligence had in fact
already deeply affected the building and forest.
The targets of the project are:

Carrying out a conservative restoration of the
hermitage, in order to bring historical, architectonical, cultural,
artistic, spiritual aspects back to life :

Organizing a functional structure for “Vivo
foundation”;
§
Realizing a virtual visit accessible on the Internet:
virtual reconstruction of the hermitage and virtual presentation of
several pieces of arts around Italy.
The restoration is still being carried out. It has been decided to
proceed restoring building after building.
The first one, the one that is directly linked to the hermitage should be
ready by June-July 2006.
The restoration has involved: outside walls reinforcement, new floors and
roofs, electrical and waten systems and sewage piping.
