Villa del Maccheroncino has been named after Campofilone. The town is in fact famous for Maccheroncini, a noble dish that was described as ‘traditional’ in letters dating back to 1400. The town developed around a Benedictine Abbey in the IX century. Campofilone stars a wonderful street that is all covered by a vaulted ceiling (Via degli Orti). The church was built in XIX century and has been decorated with frescoes portraying Saints by Fontana. It has also been enriched by precious curtains and marbles. Villa del Maccheroncino has been recently built, but it has not been completed. The property is just 1km far from the seaside and is located in panoramic and quiet position. Location
Villa del Maccheroncino prende il suo nome dal paese di Campofilone. Esso è infatti famoso per questo piatto nobile, già tradizionale nel 1400. Il paese si è sviluppato nell’alto medioevo attorno ad un’abbazia benedettina. Campofilone vanta una bellissima via coperta con volta a botte (Via degli Orti). La chiesa abbaziale fu ricostruita nel XIX secolo e affrescata con figure di santi dal Fontana. Essa è arricchita con tendaggi e marmi preziosi. In agosto nel paese si tinee la famosa “Sagra dei Maccheroncini” che attrae migliaia di turisti.
