Casa del Poggio

Portonovo

1358 / Casa del Poggio / Portonovo

La Casa del Poggio is a terraced cottage that overlooks the main square of Poggio Alto, which forms part of the village of Poggio.

The ground floor measures 45m2 and is open plan, comprising a kitchen/dining area and living room with fireplace. During the restoration works the original archway was revealed, this has been left exposed and now serves as a bookcase in the living room.

There is a bathroom at the foot of the staircase to the upper floor; a terrace door leads to a 20m2 outdoor terrace (which sits above the basement): from here panoramic views can be enjoyed of a large stretch of the Adriatic coast; a side staircase leads to the 14m2 basement.

The upper floor measures 38m2. There are two bedrooms, one of which is en-suite and boasts a 3.8m2 balcony offering the same spectacular view as the terrace below.

The house has been fitted with a new central heating system, cast iron radiators and a gas boiler. It has also had a new plumbing and electrical system fitted in addition to being re-plastered, retiled and new flooring laid.  It has new windows and both external and internal doors. The roof has been insulated, protected with a lightweight screed and waterproofed. It has a traditional pan tile roof.

Particular attention was given to the finish of the ground floor. It was realised in “cocciopesto”, a technique originally used in Roman times, it’s a mixture of lime and ground brick paving which is then levelled and polished.

All furnishings were custom made.

The restoration works of Casa del Poggio were carried out in 2001 under permission n. 212 granted by Ancona town hall in the year 2000.

Casa del Poggio is for sale at € 200,000.

Location

Hidden among the pearly rocks of Monte Conero, interspersed with the greenery of the Mediterranean vegetation, a wide inlet opens up, bordered by La Vela and the Trave (geological formations overlooking the sea) and just as an oyster does with its pearl, reveals the real treasure that nestles inside: the enchanted bay of Portonovo.
