Paradise Possible’s Itineraries

The Suitcase of Dreams

Breath of life Routes

Not to be missed:

When you arrive in Colmurano, the little medieval town in the foothills of the Monti Sibillini, tune in to the different sounds around you. The moment you pass through its walls, it’s as if the streets take you back in time. The locals might even stop and ask you politely the reasons for your visit. The town’s spectacular view of the Sibillini is a good enough response. But it’s not the only one; the 16th Century church, la Santissima Annunziata, remarkable for its unusual coloured maiolica facade and beautiful gate and decorated arches is definitely worth a visit, not to mention that its interior holds a fresco dated from 1560 and attributed to Andrea De Magistris.

Another soothing landscape is found at the Lago di Caccamo (or di Borgiano), at the feet of the Serrapetrona. The lake, which is artificial in origin, has had a positive influence on the climate, making the winters milder, as well as on agriculture, in particular olive growing. It has also made possible the enjoyment of activities like rowing and competitive fishing.

On one of the surrounding hills you’ll find the walls and ramparts of Pievefavera, a tiny town immersed in the music of the wind with a profusion of flowers and plants growing wild and in pots around the houses. On the other side looms the Serrapetrona, home to the celebrated Vernaccia di Serrapetrona (a ruby-coloured D.O.C.G wine, garnet-hued and aromatic) as well as the Serrapetrona D.O.C. wine.

The Vernaccia has two particularly important occasions in its production, one in the summer and one in the autumn called “Appassimenti aperti” – a must for any visitor. But the town itself is also of historical interest, especially as it was home to the important 15th Century politician Lorenzo d’Alessandro, the remains of whom are found in the Chiesa di San Francesco.

Colmurano/Agra Mater

This farmhouse has three floors available: the ground floor, with a large and light dining room with windows offering a delightful view of the surrounding hills and the peaks of the Monti Sibillini and the soft blue of the Adriatic sea of the horizon.
