in Le Marche
Many
companies born as small family-run concerns now are well positioned on the
market. They export the products made in Marches all over the world, thus
contributing to the regional economy though keeping the typicality of
their products. An excellent example is the Nazareno Gabrielli brand,
specialized in the manufacturing of original leather goods.
The company was established in Tolentino in 1907, and products were at
first manufactured in a small workshop, now the company has over 500
employees working in the different premises and being aided by many other
companies which work in the field of clothing.
The Byblos brand of Ancona is a recent creation; it was born in
1973 from the Genny Moda brand (a consolidated brand in Italian
fashion, which has recently been purchased by the Prada Group). Gianni
Versace worked in these companies as a young fashion designer, Byblos is
now a sound business in the field of casual and high-quality clothing.
The provinces of Ascoli Piceno and Macerata boast many companies working
in the footwear sector, the leading group is the Della Valle Group.
Tod’s, Hogan and Fay are famous brands being exported all
over the world. The company is located in Casette d’Ete and is
equipped with a nursery and a gym, it is one of the world’s leading
manufacturers of high-quality footwear and has recently inaugurated an
innovative range of clothing, leather goods and accessories.
Yet the Marches also boast other less known companies, manufacturing
high-quality products, such as Emanuel Jeans in Ostra Vetere or Meg
in Staffolo, Centotex in Centobuchi di Monteprandone and Brummel
in Civitanova Marche. The list could go on endlessly, to prove the
great entrepreneurial skills of the people of this region.
It is worth mentioning other important companies of the Marches,
manufacturing many different kinds of products; these are Merloni in
Fabriano (the household appliances they manufacture are well known with
the Ariston, Indesit and Scholtès brands), Benelli in
Pesaro (a famous motorbikes manufacturer), Fratelli Guzzini in
Recanati (specialized in lighting engineering and plastic objects with an
appealing design), and the Berloni Group in Pesaro (which
manufacture practical unit kitchens and elegant furnishings for the home).
Finally, in an excellent region as for taste and genuine gastronomy, it is
worth mentioning some companies linked to the food industry. These include
the Azienda Rosiera San Vincenzo in Monteprandone, manufacturing
cakes, jams; Pietraviva in Pesaro, producing an excellent olive
oil, and Oceanpesca, a large company in San Benedetto del Tronto
specialized in frozen fish products). Other companies are Vissana
salumi in Visso, the Sabelli cheese producer in Ascoli Piceno,
the Campofilone Maccheroncini in Campofilone, the Varnelli distillery
in Maddalena di Muccia, and the thousands wine producers. All these
companies are working to disseminate the exquisite flavours of the Marches
all over the world, protecting their quality in the name of a precious and
inimitable tradition.
