Complesso monastico agostiniano

Cingoli

1355 / Complesso monastico agostiniano / Cingoli

The Augustinian monastery consists of three main structures: the abbey, adjoining annex to the east side, and the rectory positioned in the corner at a diagonal to the other two structures. The monastery exudes a formal dignity typical of a complex that was once at the centre of an era of great change, featuring fine, sculpted decorations and capitals.

The Abbey, from its Romanesque design to the great hall has a rectangular form of 11m x 18m and terminates in three semicircular apses, the largest being the central ones.

The Augustinian monastic complex includes the abbey, measuring approx 200m2. Whilst not immediately habitable, various works have been carried out. The buildings have new roofs and static consolidations works have been done to comply with seismic regulations as required by the Marche Region. Pointing works to the exterior masonry have been completed, along with a survey of the interior plaster and other restoration works.  The property can therefore be considered in a shell state.

Further restorations works are required to render the monastery habitable. Approved proposed works include the plumbing, electrics, windows, middle floor of the annex and the consolidation of the vaulted ceilings between the ground floor and the first floor of the rectory. The entire plot of 5000m2 has protected status and is therefore subject to regional supervision in terms of restoration and use. This also means that financial incentives are available to aid the restoration.

The Augustinian Monastery Complex has an approved restoration project.

Permissions have been approved to allow for the transformation of the rectory and annex into three habitable units.

The regional authority has already carried out several inspections and approved the interventions so far performed.

Land

The Augustinian Monastery Complex includes approx. 3 hectares of land, part of which is classified as agricultural and part protected landscape.  The lands surrounding the monastery form part of a larger estate.
